Lowly Accrington recovered from surrendering a two-goal lead to secure a 3-3 draw at Chesterfield as the hosts missed a penalty in added time.

Accrington shocked the home side with two goals from Tyler Walton putting them in control.

Chesterfield hit back with goals from Tom Naylor, Lee Bonis and James Berry to go in front before Charlie Caton levelled.

Walton struck the first blow in the 17th minute with a volley from the edge of the area.

Walton scored again in the 26th minute, meeting Isaac Heath’s cross with a close-range header. Chesterfield’s strong appeals for offside came to nothing.

Naylor pulled a goal back in the fourth minute of time added on at the end of the half with a powerful header.

Bonis equalised two minutes after the restart, lifting the ball over keeper Ollie Wright, before Berry put Chesterfield ahead with a 62nd-minute header.

But Accrington battled back to level with a 75th-minute equaliser, Caton meeting Joe Bauress’ cross with a header.

Bonis had his penalty saved by Wright at the death following a foul on Kyle McFadzean.
