Alex Pattison scored twice as Bradford ended Walsall’s 16-match unbeaten League Two run with an emphatic 3-0 victory over the leaders at Valley Parade.

The Bantams went close early on with Brad Halliday hitting the post before taking the lead on 11 minutes as Antoni Sarcevic rifled into the roof of the net after being set up by Calum Kavanagh.

Walsall lost striker Jamille Matt to injury just after the half-hour mark and things then got worse for the Saddlers with a second home goal.

Bobby Pointon and Sarcevic combined before Pattison drilled a low shot that flew under diving keeper Tommy Simkin.

The Bradford midfielder then grabbed his second after 53 minutes with a solo run and angled finish.

Walsall, who had won a club-record nine in a row in the league, had the chance to pull one back when Jack Shepherd fouled Ethan Wheatley in the box, but Sam Walker dived to his right to save Danny Johnson’s penalty.
