Andy Woodman was a relieved man after Bromley came from behind to beat Fleetwood 2-1 in stoppage time.
The Sky Bet League Two leaders fell behind in the second half but substitute Nicke Kabamba levelled before fellow sub Jude Arthurs bundled in the winner after the 90 minutes were up.
“It was a tricky game for both teams,” said Ravens boss Woodman. “It’s a tough place to come, and give them credit, they were really good. The manager’s come in and made them a tough team to beat.
“To go a goal down with not long left we were rolling the dice and to get the win at the end…there’s nothing better than that is there? Let’s be honest.
“They’ll probably feel they could have won this game today with their chances. We weren’t quite at our best but that’s a sign of a good team. If you’re not at your best, then you get results. I’m more than happy with that.
“Nicke’s was a really good finish, the chest down and the finish on that surface was very good.
“But as a group of players we defended well. I thought we were resolute at times, because you’re not going to come to Fleetwood and have it all your own way.
“So that’s a big result for us. I’m relieved and delighted for those boys who’ve put a shift in for us.”
While Bromley extended their unbeaten run to 12, Fleetwood interim manager Matt Lawlor was proud of his players’ efforts, despite the defeat.
Mark Helm had put the hosts ahead but Lawlor pointed to critical moments that cost them dearly.
“I think we gave a great account of ourselves, if I’m honest,” he said. “It’s just moments, isn’t it? It’s moments that have cost us and it changes the perception of the performance, because the result is what it is.
“The result aside, I think our performance was good. The pitch is obviously what it is, but we still passed it on it, we still played properly.
“We could have been two or three up and we’ve gone toe-to-toe with first in the league and I’m relatively OK with the performance, it’s just the big moments that we need to look after.
“I didn’t think they created anything, then Kabamba came on, a very experienced player, and he takes his chance really well. But they’re very preventable goals. We have to learn from them.
“We know we’re ravaged with injuries, but the lads that are playing have performed well. You just have to look after every moment.
“I thought we had another gear to go to, so it was disappointing that we didn’t do that and didn’t look after those fine margins.
“But the performance was OK even though the result isn’t, ultimately, what we want.”
