Angel Gomes has announced that he is leaving Lille this summer in a development that is set to spark the interest of a number of Premier League clubs.

The England midfielder announced in a statement on his Instagram account that his four-year stay with the Ligue 1 club has come to an end.

It means the 24-year-old, who made three appearances for England under interim manager Lee Carsley last year, will become available on a free transfer.

Gomes wrote: “After four unforgettable years at LOSC Lille, it’s time for me to say goodbye.

“This club has been more than just a team — it’s been a family, a home, and a place that has shaped me both on and off the pitch.

“Like any journey, there were ups and downs, highs and lows, but I’m truly grateful to my team-mates and the fans for sticking with me throughout.”

London-born Gomes joined Lille from Manchester United in 2020, and spent his first season on loan at Portuguese club Boavista before establishing himself under former coach Paulo Fonseca.

Tottenham and West Ham are reported to be leading the race to lure Gomes, who made his England debut as a substitute in the 2-0 win over Ireland.
