Arkell Jude-Boyd’s stoppage-time goal sealed a dramatic 1-0 League Two win for Cheltenham at home to Chesterfield.

Both sides struggled to carve out anything noteworthy before half-time, with Max Thompson having to touch Ethon Archer’s looping header from Jude-Boyd’s cross over the crossbar late in the half.

Robins defender Sam Stubbs had earlier blocked well from Michael Olakigbe, who cut inside from the right in the 34th minute.

Stubbs headed a free-kick from Jordan Thomas over, five minutes into the second half.

At the other end, Jack Sparkes’ driven cross was headed over – just after the hour mark – by Tom Naylor.

Armando Dobra’s effort was deflected into the side-netting three minutes later and the lively Olakigbe curled the ball just wide of the right post as Chesterfield looked the more likely to break through.

Archer shot wide through a crowd of players in the 81st minute for Cheltenham, while Dylan Duffy was denied – at the other end – by Joe Day in the 90th minute.

A stalemate looked likely but after Thomas’ shot was parried by Thompson, Jude-Boyd followed up in the second minute of added time to seal the points and extend their unbeaten run to three games.
