Ashley Nadesan struck in added time as Sutton held promotion-chasing Southend to a 1-1 National League draw at the VBS Community Stadium.

Home goalkeeper Jack Sims pulled off a fine reaction save to keep out Macauley Bonne’s header, but there was nothing he could do to prevent Ben Goodliffe from volleying the visitors ahead 13 minutes before the break.

Nick Hayes palmed away Finley Barbrook’s free-kick as Sutton looked for a way back into the game, but Goodliffe went close to a second when he fired just wide with 63 minutes gone,

Sims denied Bonne with his legs in stoppage time and the hosts finally found a way back into the game four minutes into stoppage time when substitute Nadesan snatched a point.
