Boreham Wood’s Charlie O’Connell rescued a late point as they recorded a 3-3 National League draw with Carlisle following a topsy-turvy match at Brunton Park.

Wood goalkeeper Nathan Ashmore did well to claw a Luke Armstrong effort off his line, moments before Luke Norris broke the deadlock for the visitors as he slotted the ball through Gabe Breeze’s legs – at the other end – for a narrow half-time lead.

But second-half substitute Georgie Kelly made an instant impact as he picked out the far corner just after the break with Carlisle’s equaliser.

Regan Linney’s powerful 53rd-minute effort put the home side ahead for the first time and he completed his brace 19 minutes from time, with his wonderful strike finding the top corner.

Boreham Wood were not finished yet and Norris’ header reduced the deficit before O’Connell headed home Erico Sousa’s free-kick late on to rescue a point.
