Brackley hold Gateshead to goalless draw despite Zak Lilly’s early red card

Brackley made light of having to play for 82 minutes with 10 men after after Zak Lilly’s early red card to secure a goalless draw at home to Gateshead in the Enterprise National League.

The defender was dismissed in just the eighth minute for bringing down Kyle Hurst and denying a goalscoring opportunity after a mix-up in the home defence.

Despite losing their last three in the league, Brackley saw Scott Pollock, Matt Lowe, Danny Waldron all have chances in the first half.

The visitors did not properly threaten until Jacob Butterfield’s cross was nodded against a post by David Ferguson, who also headed wide deep into added time.
