Braintree made it three National League games unbeaten with a 1-0 win at home to fellow strugglers Morecambe.
The home side started on the front foot and took a sixth-minute lead when Morecambe goalkeeper Jamal Blackman gifted the ball to Goran Babic and he slotted into an empty net.
Braintree came close to a second in the 34th minute when a swift counter-attack saw Marley Marshall-Miranda play the ball to Calum Logan and his low cross found Terrell Works, but his close-range strike was well saved by Blackman.
Morecambe pressed for an equaliser after the break, with Harry Panayiotou firing an effort against a post from inside the box just before the hour and George Thomas scuffing a shot with the goal gaping after 74 minutes.
Substitute Lewis Walker thought he had sealed victory for Braintree, but his effort was ruled out for a foul on the goalkeeper.
