Two goals in four second-half minutes earned Bromley an impressive 2-0 victory at Colchester.

Bromley goalkeeper Grant Smith kept out Samson Tovide’s header from close range while at the other end, Will Hondermarck’s volleyed effort on the turn sailed just wide for the visitors.

Colchester squandered a golden opportunity to open the scoring nine minutes before the break when Kyreece Lisbie somehow shot wide of the target.

Smith punched Lisbie’s effort away from near his own goal-line just before the break, while just after half-time Colchester goalkeeper Matt Macey made an excellent save from Michael Cheek.

But two quickfire goals swung the game in Bromley’s favour.

Omar Sowunmi gave the Ravens a 74th-minute lead when he powered a header past Macey from Mitch Pinnock’s curled free-kick into the box.

And Cheek doubled their lead in the 78th minute when he finished clinically with a first-time strike after Ellis Iandolo had challenged substitute Ben Krauhaus in the box.

Arthur Read’s deflected effort was pushed onto the crossbar by Smith in stoppage time but Bromley held on comfortably.
