Jake Beesley’s brace and a second league goal of the season from Fabio Tavares saw Burton beat Bolton 3-0 at the Pirelli Stadium.

Gary Bowyer’s side won at home in League One for the first time since the opening day of the season and lifted themselves out of the relegation zone.

Sam Dalby squandered a hat-trick of good chances in search of his first league goal for the Trotters, including when defender Finn Delap produced an outstanding block to prevent him slotting into an open net after barely two minutes.

Albion punished those misses in the 27th minute when Beesley stepped up to lash home his second spot-kick of the campaign after Charlie Webster was felled in the box by Max Conway.

Tavares made it 2-0 three minutes into the second half as he latched on to Dylan Williams’ cross and beat Teddy Sharman-Lowe at the second attempt.

Substitutes Marcus Forss and John McAtee both put efforts inches wide of the post as Bolton looked to hit back and Burton goalkeeper Brad Collins kept out Chris Forino’s towering header.

Collins also clung on well to a header from League One’s leading scorer Mason Burstow with Bolton pressing as time began to run out.

Beesley capped a superb afternoon for Burton by finishing from close range in added time.
