Carlisle moved top of the table with a 2-0 Enterprise National League victory over Wealdstone as they extended their winning run to three matches.

Luke Armstrong put the hosts ahead midway through the first half as he slotted the ball past Stones goalkeeper Dante Baptiste and into the bottom corner.

Carlisle pressed for another goal at Brunton Park and Regan Linney came closest just before the break, in a half where Baptiste made a number of saves to keep the visitors only marginally behind.

Aaron Hayden then doubled the Cumbrians’ lead on the hour as he tapped Linney’s low corner home to seal maximum points for Carlisle, who took advantage of a number of postponed matches to reach the summit.
