Charlton booked their place in the second round of the Carabao Cup with a comfortable 3-1 victory over Stevenage at The Valley.

The League One club cut the deficit towards the end of normal time when Lewis Freestone glanced home a fine delivery from Jasper Pattenden.
Charlton keeper Will Mannion got down sharply to a Phoenix Patterson shot as Stevenage finished the tie strongly.
