Chris Agutter picked up a point in his first game as Sutton head coach with a goalless draw against Braintree.

Chay Cooper sent a free-kick wide of the upright in the early stages and Mason Terry made a great save to deny Lewis Simper – the away side impressing under Agutter, who left Worthing to take the job this week.

Braintree went close twice after the break when Aidan Francis-Clarke nodded onto the roof of goal and John Akinde was denied by a solid save from David Aziaya.

Both sides went close in the final stages when Braintree’s Lewis Walker had a shot saved, before Aaron Jones’ volley flew over the crossbar and Tom Blackwell curled an effort around the post in stoppage time.
