Port Vale boss Darren Moore was left frustrated that his side had not ended their lengthy winless run after drawing 2-2 at Luton.

The Valiants went into the game having not tasted victory in the league since September 27 and having not scored in a league match since October 11.

They fell behind to a wonderful free-kick from Cohen Bramall before Ruari Paton ended their barren run with a fine header just before half-time.

Devante Cole made it even better by scoring a tap-in early in the second half, but Mads Andersen levelled with 20 minutes left.

Moore said: “There was a performance today and we’ve just got to keep battling away.

“The way the game ebbed and flowed, despite all the adversity that was thrown our way, we didn’t let it deter us from looking to get a positive result.

“If you had said to me we’d be scoring two goals away at Luton, I would have expected three points and it’s exactly what I said to the players in there.

“Having said that, we were 2-1 to the good and had two or three chances to get a third goal which I thought would have killed the game.

“I said to the boys ‘if you’re not going to win the game, you don’t lose the game’. There’s too many positives for there to be negatives in the performance, but I felt we should have won the game.”

Luton boss Jack Wilshere said: “Frustrated, I would say. Tuesday (a 1-1 draw at Leyton Orient) felt like we gained a point and today it feels like we lost two points.

“I need to watch it back to have an actual clear opinion, but I felt like we lacked a little bit of belief, which I know at times has been difficult here this season.

“I think we have to constantly look at ways we can try and lift them as genuinely I’ve got so much belief in these players.

“I want them to have the same thing for themselves, but at the minute it’s lacking.

“We need to find different ways to attack, we want that variation and I feel like we didn’t have that today.”
