Darren Oldaker’s extra-time goal ensured Swinton advanced to the FA Cup second round following a 2-1 win at Rotherham.

The visitors had to play extra-time with 10 men after Aaron Drinan was given a red card in stoppage time of the second half for throwing a punch at Dan Gore.

Oldaker settled the tie in the 116th minute, with his low effort creeping into the bottom corner.

Rotherham went ahead in the fifth minute when Sam Nombe weaved his way through the defence and fired a shot through Connor Ripley.

Swindon responded positively and Cameron Dawson had to pull off a full-length save to tip over Gavin Kilkenny’s effort.

Nombe was put through by a great ball from Gore, but this time the striker fired off target. He then headed against the crossbar from Joe Powell’s perfect cross.

Swindon almost went in at the break level but Paul Glatzel was denied at the near post by Dawson.

The hosts continued to live dangerously in the second half with Drinan and Ollie Palmer both coming close with headers.

Swindon finally levelled in the 73rd minute when Drinan unselfishly cutback across goal and Palmer bundled in.

Princewill Ehibhatiomhan came close to winning it in normal time, but his header rattled off the crossbar.
