Celtic pair Kieran Tierney and Anthony Ralston have withdrawn from the Scotland squad for the World Cup qualification double-header away to Denmark and Belarus.

Sassuolo left-back Josh Doig has been called up to replenish Steve Clarke’s pool, the Scottish Football Association has announced.

Both Tierney and Ralston started last weekend’s Old Firm Derby against Rangers for their club and would have been in the frame to start against Denmark in Copenhagen on Friday.

However, the Clarke will now have to go back to the drawing board, with the two Hoops defenders having been ruled out.

Former Hibernian and Verona left-back Doig will be hoping to win his second cap after making his debut in the friendly against Liechtenstein in June.

The 23-year-old has started both of his club’s opening two matches since they returned to Serie A this season.
