Northampton picked up their first point of the season when they were held to a goalless draw by newly promoted Bradford.

There was little in the way of goalmouth action throughout the game at Sixfields, particularly in a very scrappy first half.

Bradford carried virtually all of the early threat, albeit without creating anything clear-cut, as Stephen Humphrys and Tommy Leigh shot off target from long range, while Josh Neufville would have been through on goal if not for good defensive work by Max Dyche.

At the other end, Northampton created nothing bar a tame shot by Cameron McGeehan that was easily saved by Sam Walker, and the home side were saved by the woodwork after the restart when Curtis Tilt’s header from a corner hit the post.

Bradford went close again a few minutes later when Antoni Sarcevic’s shot was cleared off the line, while the home side’s best effort saw Sam Hoskins clear the crossbar with a free-kick as the spoils were shared.
