Harry Kane was substituted following treatment on his ankle after helping Bayern Munich maintain their perfect start to the season with a 3-0 Bundesliga win at Eintracht Frankfurt.

England captain Kane lashed home his 18th goal of the season in the 27th minute – between Luis Diaz’s double – to score for the sixth game in a row.

The 32-year-old striker later tumbled in a collision with Frankfurt goalkeeper Kaua Santos and was taken off as a precaution in the 85th minute.

Victory for Vincent Kompany’s reigning champions was a sixth in succession in the league this term, with second-placed Borussia Dortmund four points below following a 1-1 draw with third-placed RB Leipzig.

Christoph Baumgartner gave Leipzig a seventh-minute lead at Signal Iduna Park before Yan Couto’s 23rd-minute leveller preserved Dortmund’s unbeaten start.

Bayer Leverkusen sit fourth with 11 points after goals from Ernest Poku and Christian Kofane earned a 2-0 victory over Union Berlin, while Augsburg beat Wolfsburg 3-1 and Werder Bremen defeated St Pauli 1-0.

In Italy, Jamie Vardy came on as a second-half substitute in Cremonese’s 4-1 Serie A defeat at Inter Milan.

The former England striker’s new club were already four goals down when he was introduced in the 58th minute after Inter forward Ange-Yoan Bonny scored one and assisted goals for Lautaro Martinez, Federico Dimarco and Nicolo Barella.

Federico Bonazzoli claimed Cremonese’s late consolation, with fourth-placed Inter moving level on 12 points with the top three of AC Milan, Napoli and Roma.

Danilo Cataldi’s penalty in the 13th minute of added time salvaged Lazio a 3-3 draw at home to Torino, while Lecce won 1-0 at Parma.

Marseille moved top of Ligue 1 – above Paris St Germain on goal difference – thanks to a 3-0 win at Metz.

Second-half goals from Igor Paixao, Brighton loanee Matt O’Riley and substitute Amine Gouiri secured a fourth consecutive league win for Roberto De Zerbi’s side.

Brest versus Nantes ended goalless.

In Spain, bottom club Mallorca lost 2-1 at fifth-placed Athletic Bilbao, Girona held on with nine men to defeat Valencia 2-1, and Levante triumphed 2-0 at Real Oviedo.
