Harry Leonard bagged a brace as improving Peterborough moved out of the relegation zone with a 2-1 win over 10-man Northampton.

Leonard struck either side of half-time to give in-form Posh a fourth win in their last six league games.

But Peterborough had to see out a nervous final 20 minutes after Tom Eaves pounced on some poor defending to get one back.

The visitors were up against it when Jack Perkins was dismissed for a high foot on Peter Kioso after just 10 minutes.

Kyrell Lisbie, Archie Collins and Leonard all saw chances go begging as Posh began to pile the pressure on.

It paid off when Leonard put them in front with a good finish in first-half stoppage time.

And he got his brace early in the second half when he poked home a loose ball after Lisbie’s shot had been saved.

Eaves got the Cobblers back in it after taking advantage of a defensive mix-up in the 69th minute.

Collins made the win safe when he cleared a Conor McCarthy shot off the line two minutes later.
