Nathan Tshikuna’s early equaliser denied Hartlepool a National League victory over Wealdstone after a madcap start to a 1-1 draw at the Prestige Group Stadium.

The hosts needed just three minutes to get themselves in front when Alex Reid ran on to Jamie Miley’s ball over the top and beat goalkeeper Dante Baptiste.

However, the visitors were back in it within seconds when Tshikuna curled home an equaliser from the edge of the box.

Baptiste denied Reid a second of the afternoon three minutes after the restart and then kept out Adam Campbell’s 70th-minute effort but Pools keeper George Evans had to save from Olufela Olomola to ensure his side emerged with a point.
