Adam Campbell’s second goal in as many games was enough to snatch Hartlepool a 1-0 win at FC Halifax and move them above their opponents in the National League.

Campbell forced home goalkeeper Sam Johnson into a smart early save with a 20-yard strike, while at the other end, George Evans kept out Josh Hmami at his near post.

Halifax were awarded a penalty on the hour when Angelo Cappello was brought down by Nathan Sheron, but Will Harris’ penalty was saved by Evans.

Pools grabbed the only goal of the game after 71 minutes when Besart Topallaj’s driven cross fell to the feet of Campbell and he fired home.
