Burton manager Gary Bowyer hailed “incredible” striker Jake Beesley after he scored two equalisers to earn a 2-2 draw at relegation rivals Port Vale.

Bottom side Vale twice took the lead courtesy of Ethon Archer’s superb free-kick and Ben Waine’s strike, but Beesley brought Burton level both times with his 11th and 12th goals of the season.

The frontman was the subject of significant interest from other League One clubs in January and Bowyer was hugely impressed by his performance.

“I’ve run out of words,” he said.

“I said boring the other week – it’s boring the words that I use to describe him.

“But I’ll never stop talking about him in the highest of praise that you can possibly give somebody because he’s immense.

“How he reacted to obviously the window situation and the way he is, the way he leads this group and the way he leads the line.

“To get two more goals – I think that’s 12 he’s on to now – it’s just incredible.”

The draw, secured by Beesley’s second leveller in the 52nd minute, was another point for Albion in their battle against the drop.

“It’s a point more than what he had this morning,” Bowyer added.

“So whenever you get a point away from home, regardless of who you’re playing, regardless of what league position they’re in, you always take that.”

Vale boss Jon Brady, whose side remain firmly rooted to the foot of the table, was frustrated by the goals his side gave away.

“I just want to win the game,” he said.

“I’m not going to say we’ve lost two points. I think we’ve gifted them two goals, yes.

“We’ve got to be better dealing with them. And our chances, we should finish them in those moments, but we didn’t and I’m trying to remain positive with the group.

“And the effort again was incredible from them.

“Overall, it’s not the win we wanted, but we keep fighting on, we keep working hard and we’ve got to keep picking the positives out of that.

“Burton have taken on some good teams recently – 2-2 against top-of-the-table Cardiff.

“They’re not going to roll over – (teams) in League One don’t roll over.

“We had enough chances to win the game. We should have but didn’t.

“Overall, I’m pleased with their efforts.”
