Jack Moylan scored the only goal just after the midway point in the first half to keep Lincoln on track for Sky Bet League One automatic promotion thanks to a 1-0 victory at struggling Wigan.
Rob Street almost gave the Imps the lead inside two minutes, only to stab the ball wide of the far post.
At the other end, Callum Wright saw a stinging strike tipped over by George Wickens, before the only goal arrived after 24 minutes.
It was all Moylan’s own work, the Lincoln man skipping through the defence before clipping a neat finish over Wigan goalkeeper Sam Tickle.
Tickle made a good save to deny Street before Moylan unleashed a powerful strike which only just cleared the crossbar.
Credit to Wigan as Oween Moxon twice came close to levelling in the second half.
The on-loan Stockport midfielder fired just over the bar before seeing another goalbound effort superbly cleared off the Lincoln goal-line by Adam Reach.
