James Gale scored a second-half winner as Altrincham edged a 2-1 National League comeback victory over Sutton.

Jack Sims made a solid save from Gale’s effort in the early stages, but Sutton took the lead in the 22nd minute when Ashley Nadesan stabbed home from Jayden Harris’ cross.

Gale was denied again by Sims and David Ogbonna curled an effort over the crossbar as both sides looked to strike before the break.

Altrincham then equalised six minutes into the second half when Jimmy Knowles nodded home.

Gale finally found the net in the 80th minute after Tom Crawford’s header was saved and the striker tapped the ball home from the rebound.
