Joe Garner scored twice as Oldham warmed up for the National League play-offs with a 2-0 win over relegated Ebbsfleet.

The Latics hit the post just a few minutes into the contest through Joe Pritchard and it was always an uphill battle for the league’s basement boys at Boundary Park.

Garner was fouled in the box and picked himself up to fire in the opener from the penalty spot in the 35th minute.

Felix Goddard made good saves to deny Vimal Yoganathan either side of half-time but when Yoganathan’s late strike came back off the crossbar – four minutes from time – Garner was on hand to nod in the rebound.
