Keaton Ward’s spectacular late volley sealed back-to-back wins for Altrincham as they beat Truro 1-0 in Cornwall.

Altrincham clinched their first win in nine matches against Boston in midweek and followed it up with another three points thanks to midfielder Ward’s winner in the 81st minute.

Truro’s Rekeil Pyke forced Altrincham goalkeeper Luke Hutchinson into a flying save with an early header before referee Emily Heaslip ruled out James Gale’s effort for the visitors after spotting a foul on City goalkeeper Dan Lavercombe.

Altrincham broke the deadlock with nine minutes left when Ward’s 25-yard volley flew into the top corner, sending Truro to their fifth home league defeat of the season.
