Kevin McDonald scored a dramatic late winner as Exeter earned their first away success of the season with a 1-0 League One victory away to Lincoln.

The Grecians had failed to secure a point on the road until they inflicted Lincoln their first home defeat this campaign at Sincil Bank.

The Imps had the better chances but failed to break down the Grecians.

Lincoln striker James Collins saw a header cleared off the line by Josh Magennis in the first half.

Freddie Draper came close to scoring his first goal since August when he rattled the post with a strike from outside the box, shortly after the restart.

Exeter goalkeeper Joe Whitworth did well to keep out both Rob Street and Collins on the hour mark.

Reeco Hackett got on the end of Tom Hamer’s cross but could only head the ball straight at Whitworth.

In the fourth minutes of second-half stoppage-time, Scot McDonald fired home his first goal of the season from the edge of the box to steal all three points.
