Slavi Spasov’s stoppage-time strike earned Southend a deserved 1-0 win at Yeovil.

Striker Spasov, on as a substitute, swept home the rebound in the second minute of time added on after an Andy Dallas shot had been saved by Glovers goalkeeper Jed Ward.

The Shrimpers enjoyed the best of the first-half chances, with a low shot from Dallas grazing the outside of a post after 14 minutes and Ward denying the same player and then Oli Coker before the break.

Josh Walker’s header was smartly saved by Ward as Southend started the second half strongly, while at the other end Yeovil forward Aaron Jarvis rounded keeper Nick Hayes but his shot was kept out by a visiting defender.

Southend grabbed the winner at the death to condemn Yeovil to a sixth National League game without a win.
