Lionel Messi scored twice for the fifth successive MLS match as Inter Miami beat in-form Nashville 2-1.
Messi stretched his league record for consecutive multi-goal games with an effort in each half as Miami ended their visitors’ 15-match unbeaten run.
His 16th goal of the season – 11 in the last six games – also moved him alongside Nashville’s Sam Surridge as the league’s leading scorer this season.

Messi opened the scoring with a low free kick after 17 minutes which found its way through the Nashville wall.
Nashville, who had not lost in any competition since mid-April, were back on terms early in the second half when Hany Mukhtar headed home Andy Najar’s cross.
But Messi had the final say midway through the half, making the most of an error by goalkeeper Joe Willis who passed directly to him.
The win keeps Miami in fifth place in the Eastern Conference, five points off the lead of Philadelphia with three games in hand.
