Mansfield advanced to the second round of the Carabao Cup, winning 2-0 at local rivals Chesterfield following goals from Rhys Oates and Will Evans in either half.
The result means that Chesterfield have set a new Carabao Cup losses record, with 13 successive defeats in the competition.
The visitors scored just two minutes in when Oates picked the ball up and played a one-two with Dom Dwyer before slotting past Zach Hemming.
Chesterfield’s Ronan Darcy had an effort deflected wide and Armando Dobra forced a good save from Liam Roberts.
The Mansfield keeper also saved from Chey Dunkley and Dobra before the break.
Evans put the visitors further ahead in the 59th minute, seizing on a loose pass from Dunkley before firing under Hemming.
Aaron Lewis threatened to add a third goal with a 25-yard free-kick which was turned round a post by Hemming.
As tensions boiled over, Chesterfield manager Paul Cook was booked.
Cook made a number of attacking substitutions to try and bring about a change of fortunes.
The hosts never seriously threatened to mount a comeback, however, as they tasted defeat after starting the season with back-to-back wins.
It was a pleasing result for Mansfield following a disappointing start to their League One campaign.
