Mark Hughes got the better of fellow Welshman Robbie Savage as Carlisle scored two late goals to beat 10-man Forest Green 4-2 in the National League.

Harvey McAdam and Georgie Kelly scored in the last five minutes for the hosts after Laurent Mendy saw red.

Hughes’ Carlisle took an 18th-minute lead through Regan Linney but Savage’s visitors were level within eight minutes after Jayden Clarke steered home the equaliser.

Regan doubled his tally on the stroke of half-time but Rovers were back on terms eight minutes after the restart through Harvey Bunker.

Savage’s men were reduced to 10 players by midfielder Mendy’s dismissal for a foul on Linney – his second bookable offence – with 27 minutes remaining.

And substitute McAdam made his side’s numerical advantage count when he smashed home after 85 minutes before George Kelly converted a stoppage-time penalty.
