Matt Bloomfield hailed his Luton side for taking the initiative to turn a poor first half into a second straight League One win as they beat Peterborough 2-0.
The visitors found the breakthrough on the hour mark through Mads Andersen, who headed in from a corner for his first goal in over two years. The Hatters wrapped up the win late on through Jordan Clark, who converted from close range after Nahki Wells dispossessed keeper Nicholas Bilokapic.
The win for Luton was also their first away victory over Peterborough in 21 years.
“I thought first half we were not quite where we wanted to be,” said Bloomfield. “The boys spoke really well amongst themselves at half-time, as did I and we addressed what we wanted to do better and they did that second half.
“To do it in front of our supporters and score a couple of goals in front of them and play with the intensity we want to be as a group was really pleasing.
“It is not going to be easy for us away from home and we are coming up against some really good teams. Darren (Ferguson), as I said yesterday, is a fantastic manager with a really good group.
“It was going to be tough to really impose ourselves because the sun was out and the pitch wasn’t exactly zipping around and we had to find a different way.
“In terms of the relentless nature and the pressing and way we want to be as a team, we saw that second half in droves and I am really pleased with how the group went and performed.”
Peterborough boss Ferguson said: “First half, I was pleased, I thought it was a good performance.
“We were far better in possession and got into the areas with our wide players a lot more than we did last week.
“They (Luton) did not give us a problem defensively, they had one half-chance from a set-piece and one right at the last second of the first half.
“In general, I was pleased, football is really simple, where you win and lose games is in both boxes.
“The first goal a player lost his man, and the second goal was self-explanatory, the mess that was.
“Going forward, we did not have enough quality, we did not produce enough chances, and I don’t think their goalkeeper had a save to make in the second half.
“Similar to the first half, I thought we had more control of the game but we still didn’t produce enough quality.
“There were positives to take out of it, I thought the three midfielders, the central ones, were really good in the first half.”
