Luton boss Matt Bloomfield got the response he was hoping for after picking an attacking side for the 3-0 win at Burton.
Bloomfield made three changes from the defeat at home to Cardiff last weekend, including handing a first start of the season to 20-year-old forward Zack Nelson.
And Nelson had a hand in first-half goals from Lasse Nordas and Millenic Alli and scored the third in a comprehensive win for the Hatters.
“I really enjoyed watching us today,” said Bloomfield.
“It has been a very good day for us. We picked an attacking team because we wanted to go out and play on the front foot and I thought Jerry (Yates) epitomised that in the first few seconds chasing the keeper down and we took it on from there.
“Zack was very, very good. We have got high hopes for him.
“He can count himself unlucky not to have played more earlier in the season but he is still a young player progressing.
“But there are lots of exciting parts of his game and we are delighted to have him.”
Luton bossed the early stages and went ahead through Norwegian striker Nordas’ first goal in English football.
But it was Nelson who really caught the eye, assisting Nordas’ goal, forcing a save from Jordan Amissah to set up Alli’s superb finish and grabbing a first league goal for himself.
Burton head coach Gary Bowyer was philosophical after the game as his side remain without a win since the opening game of the season.
“We played against a very strong, experienced team that was in the Premier League two seasons ago,” Bowyer said.
“We then didn’t start the game very well and made it difficult for ourselves.
“We conceded two goals that we felt were preventable and at half-time I was really interested in terms of how we would go about it, in terms of our character.
“Jake Beesley had a great chance, and Tyrese (Shade) had a good chance from Jack Armer’s cross and then their keeper pulls off a great save from Larss (Julian Larsson).
“I was delighted with how we stuck to the task, we just came up against a bigger and stronger team.
“Let’s put it into perspective. They had (George) Saville and (Jordan) Clark controlling the midfield and (Mark) McGuinness at the back who cost them £10million not so long ago.”
