Michael Cheek struck twice as Bromley maintained their impressive run of form with a 2-0 victory over Tranmere at Prenton Park.

The result saw the league leaders record their seventh consecutive league win to move five points clear at the top of the League Two table.

Bromley made the perfect start, taking the lead inside two minutes when Cheek powered a header past Jack Barrett after meeting Mitch Pinnock’s pinpoint cross from the left.

Tranmere responded well and went close to an equaliser soon after, Kristian Dennis’s deflected effort dropping onto the roof of the net before Nathan Smith struck the post with a close-range header.

The visitors almost doubled their advantage just after the half-hour mark, but Barrett produced a fine save to deny Cheek from eight yards.

But Cheek sealed the points in the 57th minute when Barrett failed to deal with a high cross into the area, allowing the Bromley striker to prod the ball home his second of the game and 14th of the season.
