Michael Skubala was proud as punch after Lincoln won at Peterborough for the first time in 19 years with a convincing 3-0 League One victory.

Adam Reach’s stunning first-half free-kick and second-half efforts from captain Tendayi Darikwa and substitute Justin Obikwa did the damage at London Road.

It is three-straight league wins for the impressive Imps, who have lost just once in the English third tier all season.

And Skubala hailed his squad for their professionalism after their big night on Tuesday when they lost 2-1 at home to Premier League big-hitters Chelsea.

“What a special day to get three points. I thought we had everything,” said Skubala. “After the week we’ve had with Chelsea and the energy expenditure and mental energy, these can be tricky ones.

“It’s so pleasing after the week we’ve had, these are the ones that can trip you up.

“The mentality of the lads is brilliant. It’s one of the best groups I’ve ever worked with. It’s a really healthy competitive group. I love them to bits.

“You can see how connected they are they want each other to do well. We want to keep pushing in the right direction and keep improving.

“No one wins anything in September or October, no trophies are given out now. We will have good days and bad days. We will have bad days at the office.”

And Skubala reserved special praise for Reach, whose moment of magic broke the deadlock.

He added: “He’s got a beautiful left foot hasn’t he? He’s got really good quality. You can see that.

“It was a really special finish and sometimes you need those ones.”

After back-to-back wins, Darren Ferguson’s Posh were condemned to their seventh league defeat in 10 outings this season.

And boss Ferguson said: “It’s a very, very poor result. To lose 3-0 at home to Lincoln is a bad result – a shocking result.

“There was nothing in the game up until the second goal. The disappointing part to me was how we reacted to that second goal. We were a mess for half an hour.

“We looked like we lost complete confidence and belief, one in each other and two in how we want to play. That was the disappointing thing for me because there’s still plenty of time to get back into the game at that stage.

“We needed to show more at that point. You’re going to go behind in games so we’ve got to react better than we did today.

“At 3-0 the game’s over. You just have to accept it and try not to concede again.

“The third goal’s a mess. It was disorganised. It wasn’t a case of bad preparation, it was a mess.

“You make mistakes, they’re human they make mistakes. The problem is the mistakes we’re making are leading to goals.”
