Stuart Maynard won his first match in charge of York as the Minstermen extended managerless Yeovil’s miserable start to the season with a 3-1 win.

Maynard, the former Notts County boss, replaced Adam Hinshelwood last month despite an unbeaten four-game start to the season and wasted no time in registering the club’s second win of the campaign.

Ollie Pearce stroked a 26th-minute penalty straight down the middle before Ollie Banks doubled their lead 10 minutes before half-time after being teed up by Tyrese Sinclair.

A mistake by goalkeeper Harrison Male allowed Luke McCormick to equalise with 13 minutes remaining but Jake Wannell’s own goal six minutes later ended any hopes of a comeback.
