Morecambe bowed out Sky Bet League Two with a 2-1 final-day defeat against Harrogate.

The Shrimps ended their 18-year Football League stint with a sixth successive defeat as Harrogate came from behind to end their campaign on a high.

Morecambe started the game on the front foot and took the lead in the 13th minute as Max Taylor nipped in front of his marker to head home an Adam Lewis corner.

Harrogate soon hit back however and took the lead with two goals in quick succession.

In the 20th minute a goalmouth scramble ended with Bryant Bilongo scoring from close range after Bryn Morris’ shot from the edge of the area was blocked and fell into his path.

The visitors took the lead two minutes later when Ellis Taylor’s shot was saved by Ryan Schofield but Tom Cursons was perfectly placed to slot home the rebound from six yards out.

The Shrimps were denied a leveller on the stroke of half-time when Mark Oxley produced a brilliant save to keep out Jamie Stott’s close-range effort.

The second half produced few chances as Harrogate held on to take the three points.
