Charlton boss Nathan Jones admitted he was “gutted” after his side threw away a two-goal lead to draw 2-2 at Blackpool.
The Addicks made a flying start to the second half as two goals in three minutes from Matty Godden and a Olly Casey own goal put them in control, but substitutes Sammy Silvera and Niall Ennis struck to earn the hosts a draw, with the equaliser coming in the 87th minute.
“There were loads of positives, but it is difficult to talk about them when we have thrown away a two-goal lead,” said Jones, whose side are out of the top six only on goal difference
“The feeling is disappointment. I am gutted. I am down. I have got all those negative emotions.
“But when I watch it again, look at the quality of chances we created and some of the performances, I will be very proud.
“However, for a 15-minute period we weren’t us.
“We had more chances, more possession, more shots on goal. Statistically, we were good and on the eye we were good.
“But I am just disappointed we threw away a two-goal lead. That does not normally happen to us.
“We are in a wonderful position and we are gathering momentum. It is just an underlying feeling of disappointment which I can’t shake off just yet.”
Jones’ opposite number Steve Bruce praised his side’s fightback.
“We had an awful 10 minutes after half-time,” said Bruce, whose side have not won a league game at Bloomfield Road since September.
“That’s twice it has happened when we haven’t started a half well enough. But that’s the only disappointment.
“The effort and endeavour to get back in the game was there for everyone to see.”
On Silvera, signed from Middlesbrough, and Stoke loanee Ennis, Bruce said: “You can see they have given us impetus.
“Niall reminded everyone what he is capable of. He has done that at this level for a long time.
“It was a great finish and the same goes for Sammy.”
The draw left Blackpool 13th, six points off the play-offs.
“There is still a long way to go,” added Bruce. “The tickly bit hasn’t even started.
“But we have given ourselves a chance of where we want to be so we will keep battling away.”
