The Women’s Super League campaign draws to a close on Saturday.
Here, the PA news agency picks this season’s best WSL line-up.
Phallon Tullis-Joyce – Manchester United

Stepping into the boots left by England star Mary Earps was always going to be a tough challenge, but Tullis-Joyce has made the number one shirt her own this season. The American goalkeeper has been an important part of United’s impressive defensive record, keeping 13 clean sheets from 21 WSL matches. Tullis-Joyce’s efforts were rewarded in April as she was handed a contract extension to 2028.
Lucy Bronze – Chelsea
The experienced full-back returned to English football by joining Chelsea from Barcelona on a two-year deal in July. Bronze has seamlessly slotted into the champions’ backline and made her mark just two games in with her first goal for the club. The 33-year-old has featured 18 times for the Blues in the WSL and scored the goal against Manchester United that wrapped up the title.
Maya Le Tissier – Manchester United
Le Tissier has been at the heart of one of the meanest WSL defences. The 23-year-old was named United skipper at the start of the season and has shown her leadership qualities as the Red Devils have conceded just 12 goals this season.
Millie Bright – Chelsea

Skipper Bright has remained a key presence in the Chelsea defence in her 11th season in west London and played a significant role in the club claiming a sixth consecutive WSL title.
Emily Fox – Arsenal
United States right-back Fox has gone from strength to strength since joining the club in January 2024. The 26-year-old has started all but one of the Gunners’ games this season and scored a memorable finish into the top-corner against fierce rivals Tottenham in February.
Guro Reiten – Chelsea
In the absence of injured striker Sam Kerr, Reiten and team-mate Aggie Beever-Jones have proved the main goalscoring threats for Chelsea this season. Norway winger Reiten has eight goals and was named player of the month in November, extending her stay in west London to 2026 at the start of January.
Grace Clinton – Manchester United

Following her breakthrough season on loan at Tottenham last year, Clinton has continued to shine at United. A formidable force in midfield, the 22-year-old has scored eight goals, producing a goal of the season contender with a stunning long-range chip in the 4-0 win over Aston Villa in March.
Mariona Caldentey – Arsenal
The versatile Spain international can play either in midfield or up front and has made a big impression in the WSL since joining from Barcelona last summer. As well as helping Arsenal reach the Champions League final, Caldentey’s debut league campaign has seen her score eight goals and provide five assists.
Khadija Shaw – Manchester City
Shaw has once again proved herself a consistent goalscorer in an otherwise disappointing campaign for City. Her standout moment came in November as she hit a hat-trick in a thumping win over Tottenham at the Etihad Stadium. Although Shaw has been absent for City’s last eight games in all competitions due to injury, she remains in the running for a second successive Golden Boot award with 12 goals from 14 games.
Alessia Russo – Arsenal

After a slow start, Russo kick-started her campaign with her first WSL strike of the season against former club Manchester United in November. Going into the final match of the season, Russo remains in contention for the golden boot with 12 goals from 20 games.
Elisabeth Terland – Manchester United
Following a stellar season with Brighton last year, Terland has continued her progression after swapping the south coast for the north west. The Norwegian opened her account for the Red Devils with a brace against Tottenham in October and has gone on to score nine goals in 19 games, as well as providing five assists.
