Mansfield boss Nigel Clough was happy to take a point from a poor 0-0 home draw with Wycombe which extended his side’s unbeaten run to eight games.
Home goalkeeper Liam Roberts made two decent saves in a game in which neither side really looked likely to score, though Wanderers had the better moments.
Clough said: “It was a tough slog and we did not play very well.
“There were a lot of tired legs out there after the week we have had, battling away at Stevenage and Plymouth with a lot of hours on the bus as well. You could see everyone was a bit jaded.
“But that is when you really have to dig in to keep that clean sheet and hope that something might drop. But, if it doesn’t, you don’t lose the game.
“To go eight unbeaten at any time is a brilliant achievement and we now have two more home games to look forward to.
“We are not particularly fluent at the moment. But what we are doing is battling and scrapping.
“Without doubt 12 months ago when we were on that run we would have lost that game and maybe the last couple.
“But we are digging in and getting very valuable points on the board and our third clean sheet on the spin at home is hugely important.
“Wycombe created the better chances and Liam has come up with one or two saves again when we have needed him.”
Wycombe went closest after 52 minutes when Caolan Boyd-Munce lashed a swerving half-volley from 20 yards that brought out the best in Roberts, who also kept out a low Jamie Mullins shot while Cauley Woodrow headed just over.
Oliver Irow zipped a shot just over for Stags in the first half but untroubled visiting keeper Will Norris had a comfortable afternoon.
Wycombe manager Michael Duff said: “We have done more than enough to win the game.
“We have come away to a difficult place with Mansfield unbeaten in seven, having beaten two of the top sides in this league and a Championship side, yet Will Norris has not had a save to make.
“We looked a good team but we’ve got to become a winning team. That is the challenge now. There was loads to like about today’s performance.
“That is three good performances in a week but only four points from them – and that is not enough from three good performances.
“We kept the one box clean today but just didn’t take that moment in the other box.
“It is frustrating. Tactically they did everything we asked of them. But the most difficult thing in football is scoring a goal and we had enough opportunities to do so today.”
