Runaway League Two leaders Walsall shrugged off the loss of top scorer Nathan Lowe to beat MK Dons 4-2 for a club-record extending ninth straight league victory.

Stoke this week recalled 18-goal loan marksman Lowe but four different Walsall players netted as they came from behind to maintain a 12-point cushion.

Dons led on 14 minutes as Scott Hogan beat the offside trap before cutting inside to fire home from eight yards.

Walsall were gifted a 32nd-minute leveller as Dons keeper Tom McGill spilled Taylor Allen’s inswinging corner and David Okagbue hooked home.

They went ahead just 25 seconds after half-time as Connor Barrett’s cross reached Liam Gordon and he fired home right-footed from 10 yards.

From there it was all Walsall as Jamie Jellis’ crisp strike was cleared off the line and Jamille Matt poked the rebound wide.

Harry Williams drilled Walsall’s third into the bottom corner on 66 minutes and Jellis’ alertness in pouncing on McGill’s poor 81st-minute clearance set up Albert Adomah to clip home the fourth.

Substitute Kane Thompson-Sommers rifled in an 85th-minute consolation but Dons slipped to a fifth defeat in seven.
