Oisin Smyth struck in the fourth minute of stoppage time as Partick Thistle snatched a point in a 1-1 William Hill Championship draw away to basement boys Airdrieonians.

Euan Henderson’s ninth goal of the season looked to have earned the hosts only a second league win of the season but as the final whistle neared Smyth’s low strike from the edge of the area slipped through the gloves of Cade Melrose.

Henderson, who was denied a 15th minute opener by Josh Clarke, had put Airdrie in front when he arrived on cue to apply the finish after Sean McGinty flicked on Cole McKinnon’s long throw into the box.

Thistle had struggled to threaten, the closest they went being an Aidan Fitzpatrick shot into the side-netting late in the first half, but Smyth’s late intervention left them two points behind leaders St Johnstone.
