A hat-trick by Ollie Pearce helped National League leaders York cruise to a 5-0 thrashing of Braintree.
Pearce only needed five minutes to open his tally and completed his treble just after the hour mark.
It proved the fifth and final goal of York’s 18th league win of the campaign, which has kept them above title rivals Rochdale.
Pearce’s fifth-minute breakthrough opened the floodgates at LNER Community Stadium with Greg Olley able to make it 2-0 after 18 minutes before Pearce grabbed his second.
Hiram Boateng’s goal made it 4-0 in the 28th minute and while Braintree enjoyed some respite afterwards, Pearce walked away with the matchball when he scored again after 61 minutes to move up to 26 goals in the division.
