Bromley claimed their first ever win over Salford as they recorded a 2-0 home victory and with it moved into the League Two automatic promotion places.

A lively opening 15 minutes saw Kelly Nmai sting Grant Smith’s palms with a fierce drive on the angle.

At the other end, goalkeeper Matt Young was lucky to see his ricocheted clearance not deflect back into his own net.

Salford midfielder Jorge Grant then saw his shot from 20 yards flash narrowly wide and Michael Cheek headed just over from a corner as Bromley also looked to get on the scoresheet.

The visitors should have taken the lead midway through the first half. An almighty goalmouth scramble saw a shot against the post which they would rue when Omar Sowunmi headed in his fifth league goal of the season from Ashley Charles’ cross.

One became two just after the half-hour mark as Will Hondermarck’s speculative half-volley left Young unsighted.

That lead was all Bromley needed to close out the game as they saw out the remainder of the match with minimum fuss to seal maximum points.
