Paul Mullin netted a late leveller to secure Wigan a 2-2 draw at Rotherham in League One.

A goal from debutant Martin Sherif had looked like it was going to seal victory for Matt Hamshaw’s side after they had been 1-0 down at half-time.

But on-loan Wrexham striker Mullin’s 88th-minute header ensured a share of the spoils.

The first big save of the game was by Wigan’s Sam Tickle who dived at full stretch to keep out Jordan Hugill’s header from Reece James’ centre.

Wigan went ahead after 42 minutes when Ryan Trevitt was found down the right by Fraser Murray and his effort deflected off Sean Raggett on its way past Cameron Dawson.

Rotherham were level on the hour mark through substitute Shaun McWilliams.

The midfielder followed up Kion Etete’s blocked shot and lashed past Tickle from the edge of the box.

The home side were pushing hard for a second and went in front in the 80th minute when James picked out Sherif to poke home from close range.

But the Latics hit back with two minutes left when Mullin nodded home from Murray’s corner.
