Teenage substitute Andre Garcia scored a late equaliser as Reading snatched a 1-1 draw at Bolton to earn a first Skybet League One point of the season.

The 17-year-old had only been on the pitch three minutes when, with the aid of a huge deflection off Wanderers’ skipper George Johnston, he levelled after 84 minutes.

Garcia’s first ever league goal lifted the Royals off the bottom and up to 21st and stopped Steven Schumacher’s dominant hosts climbing to ninth.

Mason Burstow looked to have sealed the Trotters’ second home win of the campaign by breaking the deadlock after 52 minutes.

The on-loan Hull striker’s shot was deflected past his own keeper by Derrick Williams.

Burstow and Joel Randall curled shots narrowly wide while Amario Cozier-Duberry, who struck a post in the opening half, smashed a shot against goalkeeper Joel Pereira.

Reading did not manage a shot on target until 70 minutes when right back Kelvin Abrefa finally tested Teddy Sharman-Lowe. But youngster Garcia ensured the spoils were finally shared.
