Carlisle bounced back from their first defeat of the season to beat Brackley 1-0 and move up to third in the Enterprise National League.

Regan Linney’s sixth goal of the campaign provided the breakthrough in the 79th minute.

The 28-year-old, controlled a strong pass from Jack Ellis before hammering a low shot across goal and into the bottom corner.

Brackley, who dropped to 13th after a third match without a win, had their chances with Matt Lowe’s first-half header flying just wide of the post.
