Kairo Mitchell’s late strike saw Robbie Savage’s Forest Green Rovers stretch their unbeaten start to the Enterprise National League season to four matches with a 2-1 win at Halifax.

The unbeaten visitors took a 23rd-minute lead when Yahya Bamba buried the rebound after home keeper Sam Johnson parried Tom Knowles’ initial effort.

Halifax, playing their first home game of the season due to pitch improvements, levelled on the stroke of half-time from Jay Turner-Cook’s pinpoint free-kick.

Halifax came close just before the hour mark when Thierry Latty-Fairweather brought good save out of Forest Green keeper Luke McNicholas.

Mitchell grabbed his side’s second on 77 minutes after a neat cut-back from Knowles, and the visitors almost settled things later when Neil Kengni hit a long-range strike against the bar.
