Rochdale stayed top of the National League after claiming a 2-0 win over Eastleigh.

Kyron Gordon and Joe Pritchard were both denied by Eastleigh goalkeeper Nick Townsend, who also did brilliantly to keep out Tarryn Allarakhia’s acrobatic overhead effort.

The home side were rewarded for their persistence as they took a 54th-minute lead, albeit in fortuitous circumstances, with Devante Rodney’s cross turned into his own net by Lloyd Humphries.

Tobi Adebayo-Rowling’s cross to Gordon was flicked on for Allarakhia to volley beyond Townsend after 73 minutes to seal victory for Rochdale, who remain ahead of second-placed Carlisle by virtue of a better goal difference.
